Of the 120 Houston-area companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 list, Entrust Energy is the top-ranked at No. 47 overall.

Its revenue grew 5,410 percent over three years to $132.1 million in 2014. It also added 89 jobs over that period and now employs 120 people.

Entrust, which has made Houston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work Lists in recent years, also is the No. 4 fastest-growing energy company on Inc. magazine’s 2015 list, as well as the fifth-fastest-growing Texas company.

Texas had 423 companies on this year’s Inc. 5000, second only to California, with 681. The two highest-ranked Texas companies were both from Dallas — Nerium International at No. 12 and Global Efficient Energy at No. 32 — followed by Austin-based Noonday Collection at No. 45. Dallas-based J.W. Logistics ranks between Noonday and Entrust at No. 46.

Across the country, energy was the fastest-growing industry, with an aggregate growth rate of 255 percent.

The Inc. 5000 is ranked by three-year revenue growth. Meanwhile, HBJ’s Fast 100 List is ranked by two-year revenue growth from 2012 to 2014. In order to qualify, companies must have closed five full fiscal years by Dec. 31, 2014, be headquartered in the Houston area, earned at least $1 million in revenue for fiscal year 2014, and be for-profit and privately held.
