Scam messages claiming to be from Murray Resources employees
Murray Resources is aware of fraudulent activity from individuals impersonating our employees across multiple platforms. Reports include:
- WhatsApp and text messages from unknown numbers
- Fraudulent emails using Murray Resources employee names, photos, titles, and LinkedIn profiles
- Activity may be occurring across other platforms as well
Murray Resources and our employees have absolutely no involvement in these fraudulent practices and do not make unsolicited solicitations of this kind.
Our Communication Policy
- Murray Resources does not use WhatsApp
- We do not text candidates unless we have already been in contact and received prior permission
- All legitimate Murray Resources emails come from @murrayresources.com
- We will never request personal or financial information through unsolicited messages
How to Spot a Fake Email
Fraudsters are creating convincing emails that include:
- Real employee names, titles, and LinkedIn profile links
- Our company website and mission statement
- Professional-sounding recruiting language
Key red flag: Fraudulent emails will come from free email services like @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, @outlook.com – never from @murrayresources.com.
Example of a fraudulent email:
From: Marian Bethea <marianbethea.murrayresources@gmail.com>
“Hello Larry, Thank you for sending this through, I appreciate it. I’ve received the cover letter and I’m reviewing it now to ensure everything aligns properly with the Senior Vice President, Operations & Transformation submission requirements for GXO Logistics…”
The email above used a real employee’s name, title, LinkedIn URL, but was sent from a Gmail address, not @murrayresources.com.
Known Fraudulent Names Being Used
Some reported messages have come from individuals using the following names — but there may be others:
Jessica Anyo, Alexia, Sofia, Stella, Lily, Ella, Emily, Hannah, Sandra, Jeannine Beeken, Amanda, Marian, Cassie
Example of a Fraudulent Text/WhatsApp Message
“Hello, I’m Sofia from Murray Resources. I got your phone number from the recruiting database. We have some opportunities. Can I share some work opening information with you?”
