Area’s Job Growth is Solid But Slower

However, one recruiter doesn’t see much in way of a slowdown.

“People are moving here, companies are hiring, and salaries are trending upwards,” said Keith Wolf, managing director of Murray Resources, a staffing firm in Houston.

“There is just a lot of competition for talent right now,” said Wolf, who has one main office and five satellite offices around the region.

Some of the demand is coming from out-of-state companies opening local offices, said Wolf, who noted that demand is especially strong in engineering, information technology, accounting and sales.

The spike in calls for sales employees is a good sign, he said. Companies don’t typically invest in sales staff until they feel more comfortable about the economy and their own growth potential.
