Finding a new job can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially when you’re left in a communication black hole. You simply want a few updates or a quick email about the hiring process. To you, though, it feels like they pulled the plug on your job search, which can be frustrating and demoralizing.

Rather than obsessing about it, move on to another opportunity and focus your efforts there. Also, always be respectful and professional. You never know when you’ll cross paths again.
Finally, if you’re ever in a position where you’re offered a job, but decide it’s not for you, return the favor and respond. Rather than ghosting the recruiter or potential employer, a simple “thanks, but no thanks” can ensure you don’t burn any bridges.
